Short story : The American Cornu
The American cornu is a horned hare. It was officially recognized on May 18, 2001. The only place where this new species can be found is here in the Mauricie at the Lac Blanc Outfitter. The only difference between the American Hare and the American Cornu is the horns and its size. The Cornu weighs about 3 kilos more than his cousin the hare. It is also faster and can make leaps of 3 meters.
In 2001, a study was conducted to identify the number of these newcomers. At the end of the summer, the research team counted 3 pups, 3 females and 2 males. In spring 2009 the number of Horned Hare reached 16 females and 23 males.
